Pupil Premium
PUPIL PREMIUM INFORMATION.
The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their wealthier peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most. The Pupil Premium is allocated to schools for children of statutory school age from low-income families who are known to be eligible for Free school meals (FSM) in both mainstream and non-mainstream settings Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit. However they will be held accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support pupils from low-income families.
In 2018-19 the school received £19808 in pupil premium
In 2019-20 the school received £23,538 in pupil premium.
In 2020-21 the school received £17,321 in pupil premium
At Ilketshall St Lawrence School we have used pupil premium to fund a variety of initiatives to support children to ‘close the gap’ in performance.
The Pupil Premium funding therefore is used to pay for, as appropriate:
- Specific Intervention Programmes e.g. supporting children to overcome problems with literacy or numeracy development
- Additional Teaching Assistant Support
- Pastoral support worker
- ELSA ( Emotional Literacy Support Assistant)
It is also used to ensure that all children have equal access to a full and varied curriculum and to develop cultural capital and so Pupil Premium pays for, as appropriate:
- Assistance with funding for residential visits
- Support for coach trips
